Komen charity under microscope for funding, science
The charity’s mission is to find a breast cancer cure, but it has cut by nearly half the proportion of fundraising dollars it spends on grants to scientists working to treat the disease. Komen has come under heavy public scrutiny since it moved last week to cut funding to Planned Parenthood, a women’s health network that provides birth control, abortions and other services.
